Poem To My Ex
You only punished yourself

It took awhile but Karma came for you.
Her conscience beat her stupor.
Not a moment too soon.
Intolerable were the people with the same dreams, but at least they had some.
You sat stagnant and rotting, not appreciating life you were given.
Letting down the only eyes that would ever look at you like a hero.
Your son won’t utter your name.
You’re alive but you chose to die long ago.
I will wake with past experiences in my mouth.
I rub my eyes and realize we are free.
We don’t have to be afraid.
You do now.
